Application Scenarios

Using the PBS KIDS Games app has become a part of our daily routine, especially during family downtime. Whether it's a rainy afternoon or a long car ride, the app has proven to be a reliable source of entertainment and education. Just the other day, I found myself at home with my two kids while waiting for dinner to cook. They jumped into the app, and I watched as they transitioned from a dinosaur-themed math game to a fun science quiz about space. It was fascinating to see how engaged they were, learning and laughing at the same time.

User Experience

The user experience of PBS KIDS Games is one of its biggest strengths. The interface is colorful and inviting, designed to capture the attention of children while being intuitive enough for them to navigate easily. I loved how the game selection screen showcases popular games prominently, making it effortless for my kids to find what they enjoy. The performance was smooth on both my tablet and smartphone; there were no glitches or slow loading times, which can often frustrate young users. Overall, using the app felt like a fun adventure rather than a chore, and I appreciated how it kept my children occupied in a positive, educational way.

The app receives regular updates, which is crucial for keeping the content relevant and engaging for kids. I’ve noticed new games being added frequently, often aligned with seasonal events or educational topics. In terms of support, PBS KIDS offers a dedicated help section within the app, along with a website where parents can find resources and FAQs. This thorough approach ensures that any issues can be addressed swiftly, making the overall user experience even more seamless.

As a parent, security and privacy are always top of mind when it comes to apps my children use. PBS KIDS Games can be downloaded from reputable sources like the App Store and Google Play, which reassures me of its legitimacy. Registration is not mandatory, and the app can be used without creating an account, which minimizes the personal data shared. I appreciate this approach, as it allows my kids to play freely without the pressure of entering sensitive information.

Updated review: Amazing app!! I'm very happy that the download feature was added again. And its even better than before! I love the carl the collector games, and I really hope to see more carl games in the future. I understand it would be a big project, but I would like to see the carl the collector: collections game as its own game! I enjoy it a lot and I've played it until I cannot find anything new. Hope to see more Carl!!

We used to love this app. It had all the characters we loved and games based on them. But with the new update that took away the ability to play games offline it is no longer useful for us. The primary use case for us was on my kids tablets for road trips. We don't have data on the kids tablets and there's no wifi in the car so we basically can't use the app anymore. If its to budget concerns as they said they could charge for an offline play version and i would pay for it...

This is a good app and it's used a lot by our five year old. My only issue, much like the video app, is the data usage. Make SURE you have a WIFI connection or unlimited data. Frustratingly, this app also has issues disconnecting when minimized (currently on Android KitKat, though this has been an issue for awhile now), so you can't be sure the app isn't drawing data unless you manually close it out of the tray. For example you can minimize the app and turn off the phone, but occasionally it will randomly start playing music from the loaded game even when the phone is in "sleep" mode. It's still a good app for kids, but you might have to have some rules governing when it can/can't be used and make absolutely certain it's been completely closed out when your child is done or you can kiss your monthly data goodbye.

Ever since finding this app on a Fire tablet, we have added it to all our devices for the kids. The games are legitimately entertaining and educational, and they build skills and confidence in so many areas. Some games are more basic and some can become quite challenging, in the best ways possible. If I had one request, expand local storage. This is a 5 Star app, without a doubt! It feels like allot of people did allot of work to make this app amazing!

Generally, we love this app. My kids enjoy Wild Kratts, the train track builder, and many more. However, the train track builder needs to be edited to have challenges pop up on the SIDE rather than through the already made tracks. My son is currently in tears because a river just got added to his train tracks and sliced all his tracks in half, making none of them connect. I realize it's supposed to be a challenge, but it doesn't have to destroy what he already made. Please fix this. Thank you.
